Phu Quoc's southern An Thoi area is a region where a world-record cable car, dazzling white sand beaches, and a European-style new town blend together. It is considered the most photogenic area on the island.

Hon Thom Cable Car, spanning approximately 7.9 km, is registered in the Guinness Book of World Records as the 'world's longest 3-wire sea cable car.' It takes about 15 minutes to cross from the An Thoi station to Hon Thom Island, with emerald waters and the An Thoi archipelago stretching out below. The departure point, Sunset Town, features Mediterranean-style architecture, the 'Kiss Bridge,' and evening fountain and fire shows, making sunset walks particularly beautiful.

The beaches are also a must-see. Sao Beach (Bai Sao) is renowned as the island's best beach for its flour-fine white sand and turquoise waters, while the nearby Khem Beach (Bai Khem) is equally calm and clear. For those interested in history, the Phu Quoc Prison (Coconut Camp) and the Ho Quoc Pagoda, built from timber, are worth visiting.

A popular route involves enjoying water activities at Sao Beach in the morning, visiting Ho Quoc Pagoda and Phu Quoc Prison in the afternoon, crossing to Hon Thom Island via cable car to enjoy Aquatopia Waterpark in the late afternoon, and concluding the day with a sunset and show at Sunset Town in the evening.

Practical Tips

• Transportation: It takes 30–40 minutes by car from Duong Dong to the south. Combined tickets for the cable car and water park offer better value; check the last departure times in advance.
• Beach Usage: Some sections of Sao Beach charge for sunbeds and dining. Weekends during peak season get crowded, so morning visits are recommended.
• Water Activities: Snorkeling and island-hopping tours are popular on Hon Thom Island, accessed by cable car. Bring sunscreen and aqua shoes.
• Sunset: With a southwest orientation, there are many sunset viewing spots. Sunset Town shows usually take place in the evening, so allow some flexibility in your schedule.
