Vietnam is the world's second-largest coffee producer, but the more interesting part is that it invented its own way of drinking the stuff. Strong robusta under condensed milk — cà phê sữa đá — is the base, and out of it grew coconut coffee (cà phê cốt dừa) and avocado coffee (cà phê bơ). Both are closer to dessert than to coffee.
Lately the city has grown a crop of cafes that roast their own beans. If the sweet, heavy style has started to wear on you, a single-origin pour-over shows you the other face of the same country's coffee. They fall into two areas — Hai Chau in the city centre and My An / An Thuong behind My Khe beach. Staying by the sea, pick the My An side; staying downtown, almost everything in Hai Chau is walkable.
A cup runs 40,000–90,000₫ — about 50 to 113 baht (1 THB ≈ 800₫, Aug 2026). Most have air conditioning and wifi, which makes them a good place to sit out the afternoon heat.
