One of Ho Chi Minh City’s greatest charms is its accessible southern nature, just an hour or two from the city center. We’ve designed a 4-day itinerary to experience the diverse landscapes of the nearby countryside daily: the vast jungle waterways of the Mekong Delta, the Can Gio Mangrove Forest—a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve—and the wild Monkey Island. To minimize fatigue, we’ve limited major travel to one trip per day.

Connecting Water and Forests

Mekong Delta (My Tho): About 1.5 hours from Ho Chi Minh City. Take a sampan through narrow, palm-lined waterways to witness life sustained by the river.
Can Gio Monkey Island: A UNESCO Biosphere Reserve mangrove forest. Jungle boats and wild monkeys reveal a side of Saigon entirely different from the urban landscape.
Nights on the River: On the first evening, enjoy a dinner cruise on the Saigon River, combining the river’s natural beauty with the city’s skyline.

Stay at a downtown hotel with a rooftop pool. After a day of exploring the countryside, unwind with a swim in the evening. If you crave the sea, you can add a day trip to Binh Thieu, just over two hours by car. This itinerary is ideal for travelers who love nature and outdoor activities.
